Makarska

Makarska is the main centre of the Makarska Riviera and has around 13,000 inhabitants.

Located only 2 kilometres from Tučepi, Makarska is very important for the entire riviera. Makarska is considered the centre of the nightlife in central Dalmatia and the wider region because the surrounding disco clubs and open air cafés are considered to be some of the most popular summer destinations for young people in Croatia.

There is a wide range of music so all guests can find something for themselves. In the summer, the two most famous Makarska clubs, Peter Pan and Deep, play host to many international DJs, local singers, bands and so on. On the quayside there are open air cafés, and so it can seem to visitors that the whole of Makarska is dancing to the rhythm of the music.

Asides from the nightlife, Makarska has another side, a historical and cultural one. In Makarska you can visit:
malacological museum with a collection of shells from all over the world
Franciscan monastery which is almost in the centre of the town:
this Franciscan monastery was built at the beginning of the 16th century and through its history has been destroyed, burned down and rebuilt a number of times. It has survived all the major European wars and is an important witness in Makarska’s history.
